As the Disneyland Hotel, the iconic hotel of Disneyland Paris, prepares to reopen with great fanfare on 25 January, the Royal Banquet restaurant will soon be welcoming visitors* from faraway lands for daily festive receptions. In this unique venue inspired by the reception rooms of real castles, you will be invited to take part in a royal feast amidst an impressive gallery of portraits celebrating Disney’s royal stories. Here, dishes will be inspired by the various cultures featured in Disney films, such as spicy Cajun-style prawns paying homage to Tiana’s native Louisiana. To best accompany the dining experience, Walt Disney Imagineering Paris and Walt Disney Animation Studios have worked hand in hand to select and depict a wide range of characters in artwork created exclusively for the restaurant. We are very pleased to share a more comprehensive look at the restaurant.
In the Prologue dining room, guests will find their favourite characters at the origins of their stories on the walls, ready to embark on their royal journey. Whether it’s Arthur (Merlin the Enchanter) rightfully taking his place on the throne with Merlin at his side, or young Kida (Atlantis: The Lost Empire) and her parents before that fateful day when the Queen saved her people, there’s a story for everyone! Some representations take on an even more authentic form, like Merida’s family in the Disney – Pixar film Rebelle, woven on an authentic tapestry with a unique design. To bring their vision to life, the Imagineers called on the expertise of the craftsmen at Tissage des Flandres, located in the heart of the historic textile basin of Northern France, which has been helping to create top-of-the-range tapestries for over 130 years.
While you’re taking your pick from the sumptuous buffet, look up to admire the portraits in the background. These represent characters famous for their culinary masterpieces (or legendary culinary disasters!) Showcasing their most famous dishes, these Disney chefs include Boun (Raya and the Last Dragon) preparing his delicious prawn porridge and Kronk (The Emperor’s New Groove) proudly serving his emblematic spinach gougères. Some, however, are more or less successful, like Pâquerette (Sleeping Beauty) and her “delicious” birthday cake prepared for Princess Aurora!
Evil royalty will also be making their way in, taking over one of the restaurant’s areas known as the antechamber. Among these iconic villains, visitors will be able to admire the charming and confident King Magnifico (Wish), the mischievous His Sugar Factory (Wreck-It Ralph) or the Evil Queen (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs).
The last room in the restaurant is called the Carrousel, because of its shape and the portraits that decorate it, paying homage to the proud Disney steeds!
With poses that reflect their personalities, you can admire portraits of traditional mounts such as Maximus (Rapunzel), Khan (Mulan) and even the most unlikely, like Sven (Frozen – and even Abu (Aladdin)!
To crown this royal feast, the Royal Banquet, at lunch and dinner, will give visitors the opportunity to meet and enjoy their meals in the company of Mickey, Minnie and their friends in their brand new exclusive royal costumes.
